2. No engineer–client relationship

Reading this website, submitting an enquiry form, or exchanging preliminary correspondence with us does not create an engineer–client relationship. We are engaged only when we have issued a written quote or engagement confirmation and you have accepted it.

3. Scope of our reports

Any report, certificate or opinion we issue is subject to the scope, assumptions, limitations and exclusions set out in that document. In particular, and unless expressly stated otherwise in writing:

• our inspections are visual and non-destructive, and do not involve opening up, dismantling or removing any part of the structure, finishes, cladding, linings or landscaping;
• we do not inspect areas that are concealed, inaccessible, unsafe to access, or obstructed by stored goods, furniture, vegetation or fixed construction;
• we do not comment on matters outside structural engineering — including but not limited to pest and termite activity, asbestos and hazardous materials, mould, plumbing, electrical, fire services, mechanical services, energy performance, planning compliance, title, easements or valuation — unless specifically engaged to do so;
• a report reflects the condition of the property as observed on the date of inspection only, and conditions can change after that date;
• we rely on information, documents and drawings supplied by you or by third parties, and we do not independently verify their accuracy unless engaged to do so.

A report is prepared for the named client and for the specific purpose stated in it. It should not be relied upon by any other person, or for any other purpose, without our prior written consent.

4. Pricing and turnaround indications

Fees and turnaround times shown on this website are indicative guides based on typical jobs. They are not offers and are not binding. Actual fees and timeframes depend on the property, the scope required, access, complexity and location, and will be confirmed in a written quote before any work begins.

This website may link to or reference third-party websites, standards, publications, tools and organisations. Those links are provided for convenience only. We do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for third-party content, and their inclusion does not imply any association with us.

6. Standards, codes and regulations

References on this website to the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, Victorian building regulations or other instruments are general in nature and may not reflect the most recent amendments. Requirements change, and the version applicable to a particular building depends on when it was constructed or altered.
